Compared with natural fibers, polyester has disadvantages such as low moisture content, poor air permeability, poor dyeability, easy pilling, fluffing, and easy staining. In order to improve these shortcomings, methods of chemical modification and physical deformation are adopted. The chemical modification methods are:
① Copolymerize monomers or oligomers polyethylene glycol with hydrophilic groups, which can increase the moisture absorption rate of fibers;
② Adding monomers with antistatic properties for copolymerization can improve the antistatic and anti-staining properties of fibers;
③Add phosphorus-containing, halogen-containing and antimony compounds to improve the combustion resistance of fibers;
④Using polyester spinning with a lower degree of polymerization to improve anti-pilling ability;
⑤ Copolymerize with monomers of dye-friendly groups (such as sulfonate, etc.) to improve the dyeing performance of fibers.
After physical deformation, there are various special-shaped polyesters, composite spinning with other high polymers, colored polyesters, fine denier polyesters and high-shrinkage polyesters.
